12:15 pm After many months of dedication and hard work, UUCB’s Ministerial Search Committee has announced Reverend Marcus Liefert as the finalist candidate for the settled ministry at UUCB.  We’ll gather together for a Special Congregational Meeting to vote on the candidate.  The meeting will take place in the Sanctuary immediately after service and will be held in person and on Zoom.

Hi, it's your UUCB Religious Education/Exploration Director, Heaven Walker (yes, that's my real name).  I'm giving a talk on Zoom on May 28th at 9:30 a.m.  You know, when people think of Judaism, they often think of the Orthodox, Conservative, or  Reform Traditions.  In my talk, I'll be sharing how Judaism also contains many New Thought, or some may even say “New Age” Communities that embrace ideas of the Divine Feminine such as the “Kohenet Hebrew Priestesses.” Click the heading for the Link and more information.

Summer Forum--Safe Organized Spaces (SOS)--O’Neill Fernandez, Presenter

9:30 a.m. SUMMER FORUM's (ZOOM ONLY) starts off its year with a special guest from the Richmond non-profit, "Safe Organized Spaces" (SOS). O’Neill Fernandez will present how the work of SOS creates work and housing opportunities for unhoused neighbors. SOS hires right from homeless encampments to deliver trash pick-up, water, portable showers, laundry service and many more survival necessities. Mr. O'Neill will share with us the personal tragedy that led to his loss of housing, and his entire life: "I went from making over $100,000 a year to living in a tent in 3 months. Back for 2023, the LFDMC is again hosting a presentation in honor of Black Music Month.  This year highlights the music of African American musicians but this time with the focus on the themes of Resilience and Resistance.   The presentation will be on ZOOM to allow for easy playing and listening to song selections. All of your favorite songs and many new ones will be played.  You'll have a whole new play list of songs after the presentation--and a whole lot of new information about the music that became the sound track of many of our lives.
