A Peaceful and Fair World

Today we will be focusing on our 6th principle which affirms our belief in working for a peaceful, fair, and free world. Although the idea of a peaceful world is complex, we can demonstrate ways that our principles and values lead us on the path to a peace. We will explore ways that we can ensure that everyone has enough food, clothes, and shelter, and how this brings about our Beloved Community.

Take Home

How does love surround us as demonstrated by our 6th principle? Explore ways that our basic needs (food, shelter, clothing, and love) are met in our everyday lives. Determine ways to ensure that others have these needs met and how this allows us to live into our principles and values.

Take a walk through your neighborhood and identify the ways that nature provides basic needs – how do plants and trees survive, how do animals get their nutrition? How can we apply lessons from nature in our everyday lives?

Look at a map of the world. Identify places where people are potentially not getting basic needs met. Discuss ways that we can help meet those needs in big and small ways. How does this align with our principles?
