UUCB uses Policy–Based Governance, meaning that the Board of Trustees’ job is to set clear policies that reflect the congregation’s vision and mission. The Board empowers staff and volunteers to implement those policies within well–defined limitations.
The Board appoints members of the Coordinating Team, which is convened by the Executive Director and assists with operational decision making and coordination of staff and volunteer efforts in support of the mission and goals established by the Board and congregation. Progress is monitored by the Board through reports, as well as through direct contact with the congregation and committees.
The Program Council consists of representatives of ten major program areas within the church and meets monthly to improve communication and coordination across programs and provide input to the Coordinating Team.
