“Bring Your Weight in Food” Drive is an annual event coordinated by UUCB youth and the Social Justice Council. Last year we collected a little over 6,500 pounds of food which went to the Richmond Emergency Food Pantry, an organization that has served West Contra Costa County residents for the last forty years. They provide food to the extremely low income residents serving over 1,200 people a week, adding up to over 40,000 people a year. And UUCB plays a big part in this with our generous donations.

Here is a shopping list of needed items:

  • Baby food
  • Sugar and salt
  • Canned tuna and chicken
  • Condiments: mayo, mustard and relish (family size)
  • Peanut butter (16 oz. jars)
  • Dried cereal (12-20 0z. boxes)
  • Dry beans
  • Rice
  • Canned beans
  • Soup (10-16 0z. cans)
  • Tomato sauce
  • Boxed cereals (12-18 oz. sizes)

Please don’t bring expired food as the food pantry cannot use it.
