Love Surrounds Us in our History

Our fourth principle tells us that each person is free to search for what is true and meaningful in their lives. We will explore this principle by focusing on our UU History and ways that our 4th principle is demonstrated. Our beginnings are based in a free search for truth and meaning as witnessed by our founders who were often considered heretics. Today we will examine what it means to search freely for purpose in the world and how this search is valid and important and mostly surrounded in love.

Take Home

We have a very rich and diverse history with historical figures that demonstrate our principles and values/ Engage one another by identifying some key figures from our history and exploring how they influence and inform our modern UU identity.

Examine what it means to be free to search for our own, unique truths. How does it feel to have the freedom to decide what works in your life and find meaning? Discuss as a family how we each see this at work in our everyday lives.

Go on an adventure to another UU Church or even a historic UU site if possible. Reflect on the ways that we are similar to one another as UUs and the ways that we are different. How can this be celebrated?
