This Personal Theology will offer a glimpse into the inner life of an artist—how memory, place, and spiritual grounding can become the seeds of a lifetime of creative expression.
Artist Kim Thoman will share images from more than forty years of painting and sculpture, reflecting on the creative journey that has shaped her life and work. Her talk accompanies the recent publication of her 200-page book, Kim Thoman: 40 Years of Painting, with an essay by art critic, Peter Frank.
As she guides us through her artwork, Kim will reflect on two formative memories—one from early childhood and another from graduate school—that continue to influence her creative vision today. She will also share memories of growing up in the Unitarian Church of Lincoln, Nebraska, and how those early experiences quietly shaped the way she sees the world.
