Caring for the Earth

Our 7th UU principle affirms the interdependent web of existence. Today we will focus on what that looks like in our lives. How do we care for our earth and how have we not. Love often shows up in the form of caring – for ourselves, for each other, and for that which we cannot see. How does love surround us in our care of the earth? How can we fulfill our promise to care for the earth in our everyday lives?

Take Home:

Today we talked about ways that humans destroy the earth and ways that humans can help restore the earth. What are ways in our daily lives that we demonstrate destruction and restoration? What are habits and practices that each of us can do each day to help sustain the environment?

Identify and discuss ways that you see environmental destruction in your communities and ways that this is prevented. Is there a recycling treatment center in your community, or perhaps a green sanctuary? What are ways that your family is working to help the environment?

Discuss ways to be active in the sustainability of the environment in your home or community. How does this connect to our principles and values? How does this inform our faith?
