Healing begins with honest reckoning. As civil rights activist James Baldwin reminds us, “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” Ministerial intern Liesl Dees draws on her experience in building solidarity with an Indigenous community to reflect on what courage and humility ask of us as we tell the truth about past harms—and begin the work of repair.

On Friday, January 30, UUCB staff will be participating in the National Shutdown in solidarity with the call for justice and human dignity.
No work. No school. No shopping.
Actions like this—taken by both staff and congregation—are mission-critical and wholly aligned with Unitarian Universalist values, especially our commitment to justice, equity, and the inherent worth and dignity of every person.
As part of this action, UUCB offices will be closed and staff will not be working that day.
