Religious Education
The following classes are offered this year:
K-3rd Grade
4th-8th Grade
High School
Religious Education classes happen during service. Children start in the sanctuary at 11 a.m. and then leave the service as a group after Storytime. RE classes generally last for about an hour and then children gather on the playground for all-ages fun. RE classes feature hands-on activities designed to help children explore UU values and build community with each other.
Celebration Chapel happens on the first Sunday of every month in the Fireside Room. Celebration Chapel is a youth-centered, all-ages service that includes music by the children’s choir and youth-focused spiritual teachings and experiences. Each Celebration Chapel has a different theme each month based on UU values.
Our Whole Lives (OWL) Sexuality Education for Grades K-1 this fall. These OWL classes help children ages five through seven begin the lifelong process of learning about identity, relationships, safety and health. This curriculum was revised in 2024 to offer new, expansive ways of engaging with issues such as gender identity and roles, sexual orientation, race, and ability.
Coming of Age (COA) was offered in 2023 and will be offered again in the future. Coming of Age is designed especially for 8th and 9th graders to explore Unitarian Universalism deeply. Students explore their own story and faith to write a credo, a statement of beliefs. This class ends with the students creating and leading their own Sunday service.
