“Together these plants—corn, beans and squash—feed the people, feed the land, and feed our imaginations, telling us how we might live.”
Robin Wall Kimmerer, Braiding Sweetgrass, p. 129
Planted and tended on site by the Honoring Indigenous Peoples Group (HIP), the garden honors the teachings of the thousands-years-old Indigenous tradition of planting corn, beans and squash together. Each plant supporting the flourishing of the others, the garden teaches the lessons of reciprocity, generosity and the inter-connectedness of all life. The lessons of the Garden inspire UUCB’s annual potluck celebration.
