For almost three years, UUCB has offered Sunday lunch after service — a simple but powerful way of practicing hospitality and building community. Whether it’s been a full hot meal, a potluck, or cheese and crackers on a busy summer Sunday, lunch has given us a reason to linger, connect, and welcome newcomers into the life of our congregation.
But sustaining this weekly tradition takes real volunteer effort — food prep, setup, and cleanup all require multiple people giving several hours of their time — and it may also require additional financial support going forward. The Committee on Shared Ministry has been working with our longtime lunch volunteers to better understand what’s working, what’s not, and what the congregation actually wants and needs from this program.
That’s where you come in. We’ve put together a short survey — about five minutes — to hear directly from you. We want to know how important lunch is to you, what kind of food keeps you staying after service, and whether you’re able to help out, whether that’s a monthly shift, an occasional one, or simply brewing coffee before church. There are no wrong answers here; we genuinely want your honest perspective, whether you volunteer every week or have never been able to stay for lunch at all.
