As the term implies, an End Statement describes an “end state.” It is an expression of hope and intention, a destination UUCB continuously works toward. Unlike the Ten Commandments, Ends are not written in stone. They are constantly revised and fine-tuned, based on your input, to reflect your values, hopes, and expectations for this church. The following are submitted by the UUCB Board of Trustees:
WorshipUUCB is a spiritual community where members and friends of all ages articulate our shared values, shaping meaning and worth out of the material of our lives, our communities, and the larger world. Worship is at the heart of congregational life and is our central commonly held spiritual practice. By incorporating into our services the wisdom and art forms from many traditions, we honor our cultural and theological diversity. Regular participation over time transforms our members’ lives toward greater depth, joy, and meaning. MinistryMinistries at UUCB are deeply shared by ministers and laity. These ministries encompass support in time of need, celebration of life transitions, sharing life stories and learning, conflict resolution, and pastoral counseling. ServiceOur congregation lives out its principles and religious values through service that enriches both our own church and our local communities. In the wider world our service projects promote social justice and environmental integrity. |
CommunityPeople from many walks of life experience in our church a welcoming, multigenerational, multicultural community. Members and friends gravitate into activities that nurture their personal growth and build meaningful relationships. We interact with one another in a covenant of trust, reverence, joy, and love. Our community extends beyond our doors. We actively support both the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations and our partner church in Transylvania. We collaborate with other religious communities and civil organizations to further the common good.
EducationWe offer a strong and growing lifespan religious education program where members of all ages experience the support of their church community as they mature spiritually through the study of Unitarian Universalist values and world religions.
StewardshipThe members of this congregation invest sufficient money, time, and expertise to further these Ends. As a community, we provide support for our staff and the care and safety of our financial assets, buildings, grounds, and church heritage. |
