Exploring Sanctuary

Today we mix things up! Everyone starts in the sanctuary, but after our opening, we’ll each go to the activity of our choice. NOTE: the first two activities are designed for all ages, the last four are geared to adults.

Rev. Kristin Schmidt: Multi-generational worship (Fireside Room) People of all ages are invited to join us for a participatory chapel to explore all sorts of different ways to create, find, and offer sanctuary. We will sing, cast a circle, design our own unique sanctuaries, pray together, and learn about how UUCB is a Sanctuary Church. A parent/guardian should accompany children younger than five.

Family Ministry’s Secret: Family Life (Terrace) Come learn about the magic of Family Ministry. We’ll explore how our community might evolve to respond to changes in family life and how this impacts church going. Note this session meets outdoors and may be challenging for those with difficulty hearing. (Led by Alice Lemieux & Merrin Clough)

Bryan and musicians: Music (Sanctuary) “Drop-In Choir”, a chance to make music, either singing or drumming, or playing any instrument you like.  We will sing “Thula Klizeo” and “Give Us Hope” to create a community of music making where all are welcome, and then also sing at an upcoming service.

Lenore Ralston: Chalice Circle experience (RE Building rooms 1-2) Experience a Chalice Circle to learn about small group ministry and explore the power of appreciative listening. Whether you have been in a chalice circle before or aren’t even sure what that means, you’re welcome here.

Our Whole Lives (OWL): UUCB offers a values-based sexuality education program for children. Come learn about this vitally important ministry (led by Vicki Augustine).

Rev. Christian Schmidt: Lectio Divina (Social Hall)   Learn about this ancient spiritual practice and explore a sacred religious text in a deeper, more reverent
