We Would Be One

7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The Kensington Symphony Orchestra and Luminescence Chamber Choir join together for bright musical gems by Strauss, Teleman, Martines, and Sibelius.
Marianna Martines’ Dixit Dominus
Sibelius – Finlandia
Telemann – Viola Concerto
Strauss – Suite for 13 Winds
Marianna Martines’ rarely performed Dixit Dominus. This work by the friend and colleague of Mozart shines with vibrant colors, invigorating rhythmic energy, and delightful melodies. Milda Martisius plays Telemann’s lovely Viola Concerto in G major, and the orchestra shares another too-infrequently played work, Richard Struass’ lush and lyrical Serenade for 13 Wind Instruments. Geoffrey Gallegos and Bryan Baker conductors. And Sibelius’ beloved and exciting Finlandia concludes the program with heroic energy and a melody everyone seems to know.
