James Baraz is a founding teacher of Spirit Rock Meditation Center and has taught mindfulness meditation since 1978.
Since 2003, he has taught the internationally recognized course ‘Awakening Joy.’ This course has profoundly changed people’s lives all over the world.
James’ upcoming 2022 course ‘Awakening Joy:10 Steps to Happiness’ will start in January 2022. This course will help you answer the difficult and current question, “Can I really focus on Joy?”
At Spirit Rock, James has started the Community Dharma Leader program, the Kalyana Mitta Network, helped create the Heavenly Messengers Training Program, and is a teacher-advisor to the Spirit Rock Family program. In recent years, he has been focusing on Dharma and Climate Change.
He is the author of two books: Awakening Joy, which he co-authored with Shoshana Alexander; and Awakening Joy for Kids.
