Exploring: Try Something New!

We will challenge ourselves to explore new foods, just as Unitarian Arctic Explorer Vilhjamur Stefansson did when he lived with the Eskimo people of the Arctic. We will look at the inside of a fish and try some seafood, the staple of the Inuit diet. Learn about the challenges of exploration with Polar Explorers for Kids or with the more fanciful A Small Tall Tale From the Far North.

Take Home: Today we tried something new and learned about being open to new experiences just the way that Unitarian Arctic explorer “Stef” Stefansson did with the Eskimo! The core of his message was that by keeping an open attitude and learning from the people whose ancestors lived in the Arctic for thousands of years- adapting to the environment and accumulating a body of knowledge handed down between generations—we will discover that the Arctic can be a friendly and hospitable place.
