CCISCO Report, June 2015

On Saturday March 14, members of UUCB assisted CCISCO (Contra Costa Interfaith Community Organization) in presenting a Bay Area Clergy Leadership conference with the theme of “A Theology of Resistance.” The key note presenter was the Rev. Ben McBride, who has been a leader of the “Black Lives Matter” movement, and who works as a minister on racial justice issues for PICO (People Improving Communities through Organizing), which is CCISCO’s parent organization.

Members of UUCB continue to participate on CCISCO’s “Ceasefire” walks in Richmond. We join participants from local churches and organizations at a different Richmond church each Friday night to spread our message of “alive and free” to the local community.

If you are interested in participating in these walks, contact Rev. Craig Scott.

UUCB members also continue to be actively engaged in working with a coalition of neighborhood groups, trade unions, etc., to advocate that UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley Lab include protections for local residents in their planning for a new campus to be located in Richmond.

For information on these and other CCISCO programs, contact Rev. Craig Scott.
