We always welcome new faces! In the age of COVID, all of our classes are online at this moment. If your family is exploring churches, reach out to Catherine at email@example.com to visit our online Zoom classes.
Registration is now open for RE 2020-2021 for Religious Education classes. Please read through this whole letter before registering as COVID changed our process and policies. If you do not register your child, your child will not be able to attend.
Online Classes K-12 and Coming of Age
For everyone’s safety, RE in the time of COVID is on Zoom for the time being. We are working on a safety plan for potential small, masked and socially distanced in-person events outside and Celebration Chapel’s (worship service for children and youth, parents welcome) based on a rotation schedule based on registration numbers. Stay tuned. If you and/or your kid feel burnt out by Zoom, you are not alone.
The following classes are offered this year:
Middle School (6th-8th)
Coming of Age (8th and 9th Graders, former 8th and 9th graders who missed previous COAs, see Coming of Age Returns below for more information)
Time Change of RE to 12:15-1:15
To ensure teachers can attend the 11 am service in this difficult time, RE will now be from 12:15-1:15 on Zoom.
There will be no OWL in the Fall. Stay tuned for the rest of the year.
Coming of Age Returns!
Coming of Age is designed especially for 8th and 9th graders to explore Unitarian Universalism deeply. Students explore their own story and faith to write a credo, a statement of beliefs. They are also paired up with a grown-up mentor from the congregation for dialogue and discussion. This class ends with the students creating and leading their own Sunday service. It has been two years since the last Coming of Age so if you have a 10th, 11th or 12th grader, they are highly recommended to join.
Coming of Age runs from 12:15-2:15. The depth of topics require more time. There will be breaks. Coming of Age students are not required to attend 11am RE classes.
The Coming of Age service will be on May 23 2021.
Welcome Back Chapel on 9/20
We will have a Welcome Back Chapel service on 9/20 from 12:15-1:15 with kids and parents to celebrate the start of RE, songs, games and practice for utilizing Zoom. We’ll have breakout rooms so kids can meet their teachers and classmates.
RE classes resume officially on the 27th. See the calendar after my signature for a full schedule of RE and Chapel this year.
