Family Ministry Office, R.E. Building – Rooms 1 & 2

Today, we will encourage playful exploration of the natural world while applying scientific analysis to natural phenomenon. We will learn about Joseph Priestley, a Unitarian minister and chemist who is known for scientific discoveries that occur sometimes by happenstance; chemical reactions will be explored in safe, hands-on experiments inspired by Priestley’s work. We will then reflect on the experiments, and share moments where we felt that something miraculous was occurring.

Take Home: Talk about coincidences and things the student discovered by chance. What are some the happiest things you discovered by chance? The saddest? The most shocking? Did you discover that dogs can eat entire socks, or that your toes can all individually move? Do you and one of your best friends have the same birthday?
