Love is the Golden Rule

Today we will review the seven sources of our faith, connecting our principles and our sources. We will focus on and reinforce the connections between our sources, our UU identity, and how love is central in our faith. We will also explore how love is woven into many other traditions and faith groups and why this is important to understand as Unitarian Universalists. We will use the Golden Rule as an example of the importance of self love and love for others.

Take Home:

Discuss the seven Unitarian Universalist Sources – what does each source mean? Why do we need sources of faith? How can we allow these sources to guide us to love with love?

Take turns identifying family rules. How are rules used at home and at school, what is the purpose of rules? How does this relate to the Golden Rule?

Collect readings, poems, and prayers that reflect each of our Sources. Every night at dinner, read one. See who can identify the Source. Discuss briefly how the message of the reading matches your Unitarian Universalist beliefs.
