Meeting People Where They Live

Unitarian Universalism has a long and proud history of addressing the plight of those in need. In this session we will introduce the concept of service and its role in Unitarian Universalist faith as articulated in the Blake covenant, “And service its law.” We will also build connection to UU History through stories of those who paved the way for service and community building through faith. We will engage relationship building between participants and empower one another to think of ourselves as people who are of service.

Take Home:

Consider and explore what it means to be of service. How do members of your family serve one another? In what ways is your family of service to your community? In what ways are you of service to your church? One of the themes of this week’s session was the importance of listening and being in relationship in order to be of service. In what situations do members of your family wish that others would listen to them more carefully?
