UUA Pacific Central District Assembly is the annual local gathering of the UUA (Unitarian Universalist Association.) This year’s meeting takes place in Newark, a short drive away, and lasts three days, from Friday April 22 to Sunday April 24.

Saturday afternoon our own Linda Laskowski will give a workshop on the subject A Forgotten Catalyst for Growing Unitarian Universalism. At the same time Rev. Cat Cox will lead a different workshop entitled Empowering Lay Leadership: Conflict Resolution for Good!

Later that afternoon our Intern Minister Zackrie Vinczen will moderate a panel of young adults, including Elliott Smith, exploring “the topic of ‘calling’ in a Unitarian Universalist context.”

An Invitation to District Assembly

Feeling a bit weary and too busy for one more thing? Do you suspect there must be ways to work smarter instead of harder? Are you disheartened by what passes as public discourse? We have designed a weekend with you in mind. Come be energized and surprised and renewed.

On April 22-24, our District Assembly in Fremont will gather Unitarian Universalists for vibrant worship, a keynote and plenary by the Director of Congregational Life at the UUA*, and a professional improvisational performance featuring your quotes and stories. The most difficult part may be deciding which 2 workshops to attend out of the 18 offered. Programming for children and youth will also be provided. All of this is to highlight ways to do together what we cannot do alone.

We need one another. We need to know how to work together within our congregations and with other congregations and in our larger community to live out a message of hope and love. None of us alone can do what needs to be done. No one congregation can do it all. But together, there are new possibilities. And for that, we need you.

Last minute registrations present all kinds of complications for us in terms of planning and they jeopardize the chances of finding a room at our special rate on site, so please register today and pass this along to some people you consider critical companions on our journey together. http://www.pcduua.org/events/district-assembly

*The Rev. David Keyes writes: In over 30 years of ministry, I think I have attended two District Assemblies. This year will be different. I’ll be there on Saturday, April 23, to rejoice in the message of the Rev. Scott Tayler, Director of Congregational Life for the UUA. As a member of your PCD district board, I campaigned for Scott to be invited to deliver the keynote address and to create the opportunity for us to explore collaborative ministry —- the only kind of ministry that will be sustainable into the future.
