Literature, Film and Drama Contingent discusses the book, “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek”
03-07-2021
12:30 pm - 2:30 pm
The LFDC hosts a discussion of “The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek” on March 7, 2021 at 12:30 p.m.
Thoughts for March 7 LFDC Meeting:
It is serendipitous that in February 2021 the LFDC read and discussed Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent before reading “The Book woman of Troublesome Creek”, in March 2021. Both books are amazing in their own ways: One gives us historical non-fiction that traces racism from its beginnings to the present day – and explains why some white people are hell-bent on preserving what they consider to be their birthright. The other is historical fiction, beautifully written, that tells the story of racism perpetrated upon another group – the blue-skinned people of Kentucky, and how books can change lives.
All are Welcome. Even if you haven’t read the book (which hopefully you can), come and listen to a fascinating discussion on March 7, 2021 at 12:30 facilitated by Dorothy Herzberg. Click for ZOOM MEETING LINK
