Friends!
Come and join us at a retreat!
If you are a member and have been considering deepening your relationship with the congregation and would like to learn more about getting involved at UUCB, join us. If you consider yourself a leader in any capacity, join us. If you have served in the past as a leader or mentor, join us. And if you have been a volunteer in any capacity join us.
Come to this retreat to strengthen the core of our beloved community. We’ll play and connect with each other, and work together to explore our smaller, short-term goals as well as our bigger dreams. Let’s take time away from the logistics of making church happen to ask questions like:
-
What is spiritual leadership?
-
How do we empower each other to share our gifts?
-
How is each of us called to serve in this critical time?
-
What will we have to let go of to allow space for what is emerging among us?
This era is one of dramatic historical and environmental change. Meanwhile, participation in religious communities is plummeting, especially in younger generations. The question remains: what will we need to release about who we have been in order to grow into who we are called to become? How can our Berkeley roots, with all the rich connotations of this place of big ideas, help guide us in becoming a vital resource for our wider community at the intersection of arts, justice, and spirituality?
We hope to make this kind of retreat a regular part of the rhythms of our community, so this won’t be your last chance to be nourished and deepen alongside other committed congregants.
In Community,
Rev. Marcus and the Retreat Committee: Ladie Malek, Suzette Anderson-Duggan, Andrea Brewer-Thompson, Karen Elliott, Donald Klose, Lonnie Moseley, Lenore Ralston & Karen Tripp
