Forgiveness
Today we will explore forgiveness and how this concept is applied through our second UU principle which states that all people should be treated fairly. We will explore themes of forgiveness by examining the idea of fairness and ways that we have been treated unfairly and ways that we have treated others unfairly. We will also engage the differences between fair and equal. Through creative engagement and exploration of our various religious and spiritual identities, we will focus on what it means to forgive and be forgiven.
Take Home
Exploring forgiveness can bring up some difficult feelings for many people, including children. Considering talking about the many ways that forgiveness shows up in daily life – at home, school, and in the community. Help one another identify what love looks like in the form of forgiveness.
Explore creative ways to engage the concept: create art with many mistakes while focusing on allowing each person to make the mistakes they need to make, sing a song that each person is not familiar with, play a game in which each person has the chance to forgive through love.
