And they need our help urgently.  Immigrants at the West County Detention Center will very soon be transferred to other centers around the country.  Currently, twenty of the 200 are eligible for bail.  If they can’t post $10,000 in the next few weeks, allowing them to return home, they will be sent far from their families, support groups and attorneys.

EBIIC (East Bay Interfaith Immigration Coalition) and IM4HI (Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity) — both represented by Rev. Deborah Lee — have asked local congregations to dig deep, contributing anything we can to help our neighbors out as quickly as possible.

There are three ways of donating online — listed below in order of difficulty!

For all three, could you please email Helen Toy (helen_toy@yahoo.com) if you’d like to attend the August 11 barbecue and indicate the number in your party.  This festive “THANK YOU” barbecue in Pinole will be hosted by our new members, Bill and Andrea Brown.  The Browns can accommodate 60 people at the barbecue, so the first 60 who RSVP will be invited.  Details to follow.
