 ience in the Graduate Urban and Public Affairs Program and the Department 
 of Politics at the University of San Francisco. His current research is on
  a full-length study of the Peoples Temple Movement and African American p
 olitical history in California. He is past director of the African America
 n Studies Program and has taught regularly in the African American and Afr
 ican Diaspora Studies Department at the University of California\, Berkele
 y. He is the author of Black Nationalism in the United States: From Malcol
 m X to Barack Obama\; co-editor and author of Something's in the Air: Race
  and the Legalization of Marijuana\, as well as the article “King the Se
 ll Out or Sellin’ Out King?: Hip Hop’s Martin Luther King\, Jr.\,” i
 n Dream and Legacy: Dr. Martin Luther King in the Post-Civil Rights Era.\n
 \nProfessor Taylor is former President of the National Conference of Black
  Political Scientists\, an organization of African American\, African and 
 Afro Caribbean political scientists in the United States. He is the immedi
 ate past Chair of the Department of Politics at USF.\n\n&nbsp\;
