UUCB Celebrates Marriage Equality in California

Celebration! The Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley, and UUs throughout California and the nation, are celebrating the historic decision by the California Supreme Court to end marriage discrimination in our state. TheUnitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry of California was the driving force behind the Interfaith Amicus Brief in support of marriage equality that was signed by more than 400 clergy and religious organizations, and to which many Unita rian Universalist ministers and congregations were signatories. While we know that there is much more work to do, we can be proud of what we all have accomplished.

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley has long celebrated, affirmed and supported the weddings of our gay and straight community members alike. Our ministers Bill and Barbara Hamilton-Holway were at city hall in San Francisco in February of 2004 giving wedding vows to church members. They will now be able to join together our LGBT brothers and sisters in both love and equal legal recognition here at UUCB.

UUCB, which overlooks San Francisco and the Bay, is a beautiful sanctuary for celebrating and affirming love. If you are looking for a place in the East Bay to celebrate your own marriage equality and your wedding, take a look at our Facilities and Community Use page.
