Thursday Evening Vesper Services
Our mid-week worship opportunity is offered at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings in the Fireside Room with one of our co-ministers or community ministers leading the service. Come enter the quiet space of our beautiful small chapel and breathe softly. Take twenty minutes to hold yourself in silence, listen to sacred music performed by Elinor Armer and reflect. Let yourself be quieted, nourished and refreshed in the midst of your beloved community.
2010 Fall Schedule
1st Thursdays: are Family Nights. After supper, there will be a 7:00 worship celebration for all ages. Rev. Chris Holton Jablonski will tell one of his engaging stories, and Music Director Bryan Baker will lead children and adults in singing.
Program: Beginning in October, Rev. Sonya Sukalski will present a program on “Water and Climate Justice.” Sonya has recently traveled California on two 9-day young adult Water Justice trips with the UU Legislative Ministry, and will share insights, exercises, and amazing pictures from these trips. This program will help each participant better understand the water system in California, how it relates to climate change, and how we all relate to each other through our water supply. Water is necessary for life, as well as a way we connect to something bigger than ourselves. How can we assure that all who need safe, affordable, sufficient water can get it in years to come? Join us on Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m. and develop your own perspective!
2nd Thursdays: Revs. Barbara and Bill Hamilton-Holway will lead our 7:00 p.m. worship service. UUCB’s Gamelan will sometimes play, offering meditative music.
Program: Barbara will lead a program at 7:30 p.m. on the month's theological theme.
3rd Thursdays: Members of our Board of Trustees will take turns sharing their life journeys.
Program: “Our Lived Theology” with Rev. Chris Holton Jablonski. Often Unitarian Universalists can get caught in a trap of settling for theological freedom. We can forget that freedom to know the singular truth of our hearts is only the beginning. The real work of forging truth and a sustaining, nurturing personal theology asks that we wrestle with the foundational questions of our beings. In this class we will ask big questions together and share what we know as true. We will explore questions of salvation, of human nature, of God, of the purpose and potential of life. And it will be fun.
4th Thursdays: Intern Minister Darcy Baxter will lead the service.
Program: Our Unitarian Universalist Heritage and Tradition with Darcy Baxter.
5th Thursday: (September 30) Rev. Lisa Sargent, one of our community ministers will lead the worship service.
Program: As part of our exploration of our Unitarian Universalist heritage, Lisa will lead a UU Communion with a traditional Unitarian liturgy, followed by discussion.
