Feb. 12: Martin Verhoeven, monk for 18 years, Research Professor of Buddhist Classics at the Institute for World Religions in Berkeley, Adjunct Professor of Comparative Religions at the Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley. “Wrestling with Doubt.”
Feb.19: Marcus Liefert, Intern Minister at UUCB, lifelong UU. Marcus will paint a picture of the soul work that prophets both ancient and modern have called for in the work of peace. “Living Nonviolence, Listening to the Soul.”
Feb. 26: Rabbi Harry Manhoff, Temple Beth Sholom, San Leandro. “Sixty Years of Converting to Judaism Every Day:
a personal theology.”
March 4: Cynthia Josayma, UUCB member, translator of two Buddhist Operas and editor of a book of sacred chants. “A World of Sacred Music: Personal reflections on a life infused with sacred music from Tibet to Morocco.”
March 11: Bill Garrett, Professor of Religion and Philosophy at John F. Kennedy University and teacher at the Osher Life Long Learning Institute, an adult education program. Topic TBA.
March 18: Alex Pappas, former teacher of World Religions at the College of Alameda, world traveler. “Ageless Wisdom and the Teachings of George Oshawa,
a very evolved spiritual person who reached a non-dual perspective.”

April 1: Rev. Cathleen Diane Cox, Community Minister at UUCB. “The Parables of Jesus: Radical Social Activism at Work.”

April 15: Stan Klein, Physicist and Professor of Neuroscience at UC Berkeley, believes progressive religion can be a strong force for enabling a healthy, sustainable society. “The Duality Principle: How Science and Religion Can Help Each Other.”
April 22: Cordell Sloan, minister’s son, dream expert, jazz singer, and UUCB friend, will share his home recipe for turning life’s lemons (personal challenges) into lemon meringue pie through Emotional Freedom Technique, Neurolinguistic Programming, Focusing, etc. “Easy As Pie.”
April 29: Ann Riley, UUCB member, has been a shamanic practitioner for the last 12 years. She teaches and sees private clients in El Cerrito. “Shamanism for Today’s World.”
May 6: Rev. Zoltan Kopandi-Benczedi, this year’s Transylvania scholar, has been studying the connection between church life and community development, particularly in multicultural environments. “Be a Light in the Darkness.”
May 13: Barbara Bye, movement artist, combines a long and rich study of classical Indian dance with mudras (hand positions), gestures, and spoken work, creating a deeply felt experience. “Celebrating Mother’s Day, 2012—Celebrating Our Mothers, Ourselves, and Our Mother Earth.”
May 20: Victoria Lee, psychologist and author of The Rumi Secret and Soulful Sex, will sing and play the guitar, offering her own compositions as well as others, and recitations from the works of Rumi. “Celebrating Spirit with Victoria Lee.”
