July 2009
In India the common greeting to visitors is: "What country?" Often when we answered "the United States," people would say "Obama!" and express their high hopes. These challenging times can be opportunities met with care, creativity and cooperation, chances to recognize all that we have and to create new possibilities for peace and understanding.
We know much has been going on at UUCB and we want to hear all about it. We mourn the loss of longtime, devoted members who have died. We look forward to meeting those of you who have come since the beginning of the year and to reconnecting with all of you.
When people have asked us who is taking care of the congregation in our absence, we have a long answer. We speak of UUCB's great storyteller, amazing preacher, our energetic, talented, wise colleague and team minister Christopher Holton Jablonski. We speak of an intern minister chosen for her life experiences, good mind, loving heart, her willingness to speak both to comfort and to challenge. We speak of the hard-working, dedicated staff and the committed lay leaders who give their hearts and souls in service. We speak of this wonderful strong, caring congregation. We give thanks for all of you.
And so much has gone on in your personal lives. We want to hear how you are doing. On Sunday, July 12, in the Sunday services we will ask you to write us of your marking events, sorrows, and joys.
We are excited to hear your hopes and dreams and to begin the next chapter of congregational life together.
With love and appreciation,
